Caramel Apple Pie

This caramel apple pie recipe makes a perfectly sweet and spiced apple pie.

The best apples to use in a pie like this are tart apples that can hold their shape well when they are baked.

 I like these: - Granny smith  - Braeburn -  - Golden Delicious

The pastry is an easy and super flaky all-butter pie crust.

Toss the apples in flour, sugar, lemon juice and spices. Then drizzle with caramel sauce.

Add on the pie top, in a lattice if you like.

Crimp the edges to neaten them up.

Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse sugar.

Bake the pie at 425°F/220°C for 15 minutes, then at  350°F/180°C for a further 50-60 minutes.

Let it cool for at least 4 hours. Then drizzle with extra caramel sauce.
